I can see you

What Happened To The Sun?

We want to know too.

Salt Lake City, Utah, June 30 ------Citizens bore witness to a catastrophic and confusing event on the evening of June 30th. As they went about their lives shopping, relaxing, and preparing for the next day, life as we know it ultimately changed. YOU're here. A single flash of light and the erasure of millions. Questions left unanswered as world governments struggled to address the sudden nightmare. YOU're still here. Now, those that remain battle daily for survival against lacking resources, dangerous terrains and weather patterns, sunlight that will melt you in an instant, and poisoned beings who were touched by its light.

Will you see tomorrow? Because tomorrow has already seen you.

Are you looking for something?

Information

Sol Invectivus is an 20+ horror survival roleplay group.

Sol Invectivus is a survival horror roleplay group inspired by ARGs, surreal apocalyptic games, and wilderness survival stories. (Once Human, Diatlov's Pass, Local58, TheSunVanished are some inspirations.) This group will primarily run through the Discord server. You are a survivor of an abrupt and sudden transition from the normal everyday life of midwest USA to a future forever changed by a catastrophic event. There's only a few things you know:

  • This is not the US you were in just moments prior.

  • Thousands have died or changed.

  • The Sun will kill you.

Now you need to survive this new reality with the unexpected band of people you were near when everything changed. Will you work together so you can all survive? Will you take what you need for yourself and let them struggle on their own?

Survivors

Character Creation

The Gist

Ready to survive a fucked up apocalypse? Great! In order to apply as a player for the group, you will be required to provide the following:

  • A written application + headshot

  • A filled out character tracker sheet with chosen traits and stats

Additional character materials are optional. They can be, but are not limited to:

  • A fully drawn out/arranged art application

  • A Toyhou.se character profile - if you do not have a Toyhou.se account and would like one, please feel free to reach out to the mods for an invite code.

The Written App

All applicants will be required to submit a written application for their character using the provided Google Docs template. This application should provide information about the character, including their backstory up until the events of the group. Do not include information about the apocalypse or how they're surviving, as this will be unveiled throughout the story when the group begins. The following information will be required in written applications:

  • Their name, nicknames, age, birthday, height, gender/pronouns, and where they are from (city, state, country, etc.)

  • A description of Personality to give a sense of how the character thinks and behaves. There should be a balance between positive and negative personality traits.

  • A Biography which includes information about their past, creating a foundation for us to understand the character, up until the events of the story. PLEASE DON'T INCLUDE ANYTHING ABOUT THE APOCALYPSE, AS THIS WILL BE EXPLORED IN THE STORY. Please note as well that while characters are allowed to have secrets in their backstory meant to be hidden from other players for narrative purposes, they should still be shared privately with the mod team for review.

  • A Headshot - We don't require everyone submit art applications, but for sake of visualization and reference, we do ask all apps at least provide a headshot. This can be your own drawing, a commission you own, a picrew/dollmaker, etc. We are extremely anti-AI and do not permit any use of it in our group (both art + writing.) If you are found to be using AI for any part of your app, you'll be immediately denied/removed.

You're welcome to provide additional information if you desire, just please keep in mind the length of your written application. We're a small team with limited time, and can't read a small book for every application; if a personality section or biography are longer than 2-3 short paragraphs, you may be asked to shorten/simplify them.Optional information can include:

  • Starting Item - This item would be a special item your character starts the story with. It could be a backpack, a motorbike, their car, a suitcase, etc. It should serve some purpose and you will be asked to provide an explanation of how it may benefit them in the story (i.e. the backpack allows them to carry +10 things). Applications with starting items will be judged more harshly, and you may be asked to change or remove your item if the mods decide it needs to be adjusted for approval.

  • Player Information - your preferred name, pronouns, timezone, etc! This can be helpful for roleplay and making plans within the group.

The Character Sheet

Your character sheet, or character tracker, is for the gameplay part of the group. Information in this sheet will pertain to survivability, stats, and traits of your character. We ask that you fill this out yourself for applications, but upon acceptance, it will be added to a group sheet that is maintained by mods.Any future updates to the sheet will be added by a mod after being informed by the member or being noted during roleplays.

Traits

Traits are unique characteristics your characters possess, either due to education, life experience, special physical attributes, etc., that will have unique and specific influences on your character's survivability. A full list of the traits is provided with an explanation of their uses. For a more in-depth explanation of the traits system and guide for the other system elements, please see below.

The Art App

Sol Invectivus is not strictly art-only, meaning any art beyond the stated requirements is optional. We do encourage art applications, as they'll help with visualization and give other artists in the group references if they want to draw scenes/gifts!As a side note, remember that Sol Invectivus uses a "real world" setting, so hair colors, eye colors, skin colors, heights and so on should be within realistic human ranges. Unnatural colors will be assumed to be dye or contacts (and good luck keeping that fresh mid-apocalypse).We will be providing a blank art template should you like to fill it out for your character. There are three layout options you have free choice between - ID card only if you only wish to do the required headshot; ID card and a fullbody; or ID card, fullbody, and special item if they have one.To reiterate: Sol Invectivus is anti-AI. If you are found to be using AI in any capacity (including tracing generated images), you will be removed/denied.The art application has space for the following:

  • A fullbody drawing of your character

  • A drawing or image-insert of their starting item, if they have one

  • An ID-like space for their basic information

Because it's not required, you do not need to submit a full art application at the same time as your written app. This can be filled out at a later time after acceptance into the group if you choose. Please keep in mind, if the application violates any of our rules or is found to be offensive, you may be asked to make changes or removed from the group if the issues are severe.

Rules

These rules will be enforced during the entirety of the group. They must be followed. Failure to follow any rule will be subject to moderation discretion, most likely resulting in a warning first before being removed from the group. All rules are subject to changes as needed; rule adjustments will be announced to the group as a whole when applicable.

General Rules

  1. No Harrassment, Hate Speech, or Rude Behavior

  • Absolutely no hate rhetoric or abusive behavior is allowed. This is not a politically neutral zone, and while we'd like to refrain from talking about politics in depth, Conservative and NeoNazi ideology is not tolerated in this space. Homophobic, Transphobic, Racist, and Xenophobic rhetoric or actions will also not be tolerated.

  1. Be Respectful of Other's Boundaries

  • This group is meant as a social hub for people to potentially make new friends while enjoying a story, but please be respectful of each other's boundaries. Do not DM randomly and without permission. Do not force interactions that others have not agreed to. Anyone being pushy or deliberately ignoring boundaries are to be reported so the mods can speak with them.

  1. Absolutely No One Under the Age of 21+

  • Adult content is expected within the group's story and interactions, and therefore no one under the age of 21 is permitted to participate. Members will be asked to reconfirm that they understand this and are of age several times throughout the application process via warnings and disclaimers. If you are found to be lying about your age, you will be promptly banned.

  1. NSFW Kept to NSFW Channels

  • While this group is intended for a mature audience, discussions of specific NSFW content (sexual, explicit, etc) must be kept to either NSFW channels or DMs. They should not be in general channels.

  1. NO AI

  • Absolutely no AI is allowed in the group. This includes writing, art, or any other application. If you're found using or submitting AI, you will be banned.

  1. Spoilering/Content Warning

  • Please make sure, when discussing disturbing or potentially triggering topics, to spoiler and cw/tag your message(s). Please also avoid openly discussing things like show or movie plot details in the chat, especially if its going to spoil something for someone else.

Roleplay Rules

These are rules and guidelines for roleplay. Make sure to follow these rules to avoid strikes or removal.

  1. Mod's Word is Law

  • While Mods will do their best to be discerning and hear out player feedback, our word is law in the group. This includes decisions about roleplay moments or information, item gets, events, etc. Please do not argue with us, this will not put anything in your favor.

  1. App Denial

  • Mods have the right to deny or remove any application as needed.

  1. No God-Mode

  • Your character will not be the most-specialest, most perfect, strongest character ever, and therefore should not act like it. All characters will abide to realistic actions and responses, as is within character and acceptable by the Mods and Players. God-modding, metagaming, power-playing, and so on are not permitted.

  1. When In Doubt, Plot It Out

  • Surprises can be fun, but often not in RP. When possible, it is better to pause, ask, and plot out major moments with your fellow Players to avoid upset feelings or knee-jerk responses. This can be anything from shipping/ship moments to fights to major progression between characters.

  1. Ship Responsibly

  • Absolutely No Ship-Pushing. Discussing or asking about shipping is fine, but do not force, pressure, or harass anyone over ships.

  • Please try to not flood main channels with ship-talk or ship-roleplay. Move it to DMs or other channels when possible.

  • This group aims to be Pro-Fiction, but certain ship archetypes are not allowed (i.e. Child/Adult, Incestuous, Person/Animal, etc). If in doubt, just ask!

Art Rules

Rules and guidelines about sharing art, both your own and others', in the group.

  1. Do Not Steal

  • Stealing artwork from others is prohibited. It does not matter if you found it on Pinterest or Google, it's not yours.

  1. Always Provide Credit or Source

  • We ask that when sharing someone else's work from twitter, tumblr, pinterest, etc., that you always provide credit or link directly to the source when sharing. Sharing anything without credit/source will be deleted and you'll be given a warning.

  • This also pertains to sharing commissions/trades/gifts of your character(s), unless the artist has asked you not to credit.

  1. Another Big "Fuck You" to AI

  • AI is prohibited within the group. No using it for art apps, sharing it in the server in any sense, etc. All my homies hate clankers.

why?
